Subject: Problem with SEQ

I am using seq-R2-0-11 with epics R3-14-9. I have written a simple sequencer code in which I tried to get a value from a stringin record. For testing I have these two definitions:

char name1[SPATH]; assign name1 to "{P}{M}WF_NAME"; monitor name1;
char name2[SPATH]; assign name2 to "{P}{M}S_NAME"; monitor name2;

Where name1 is assigned to a waveform record and name2 is assigned to a stringin record. Both these records are given some character string values. I can obtain the value from the waveform record but I get nothing from the stringin record. In each case I use pvGet function. This test was precipitated when my sequencer code failed to get the string from the DESC field of a longin record.

Is it not possible to get an ASCII coded string either from a stringin record or the DESC field from any record into a sequencer program? It seems to me that it should be possible since it works with caget! Am I overlooking something simple and basic? How can this be done? Can anyone help, please?

Thanks in advance,
Zen
