We just got done fighting with this and finally tracked down the problem edm was having to some problematic symlinks in /etc/X11/fontpath.d for the standard 75dpi,
100dpi, and misc xorg font packages.

According to bugzilla it's been fixed for months, but
no f8 update has been released, just devel/f9.

We were unable to implement the fix either through installing
the new packages (couldn't actually get them to install),
or by correcting the symlinks as extracted from the .rpm
using rpm2cpio and cpio; there must be more than just
changes to the symlinks themselves.

We added to the bug... we'll see what we hear back.  In the mean time the following command executed on the fc8 machine that you're trying to display on will fix the problem.

xset fp+ /usr/share/X11/fonts/75dpi

Now could someone tell us how to get edm to compile on fc8? We're having trouble because it wants to link with libXt.a, and we're not finding that in the fc8 rpms.
