One of these specifies netbsd-x86 as the host architecture, the other specifies that this is also target platform.

OK, found the problem

The file is supposed to be named 'CONFIG_SITE.<arch>.<arch>', and I had
it named 'CONFIG_SITE.<arch>'. A file named 'CONFIG_SITE.netbsd-x86'
doesn't match 'CONFIG_SITE.netbsd-x86.netbsd-x86'. Why is arch repeated
twice??? Is that for cross-compiling?

Yes, I'm using the new "Extensions Top" config files.

I'm working with medm3_1_2_1. Please understand that this is part of
my project to port Epics to NetBSD, so I'm sure it's just something
that
is not being picked up by someone.

I'll capture a logfile of the compile, next time I compile the
package,
but the command I use is simply to move to the extensions directory,
and
type 'gmake' (NetBSD uses normal BSD 'make' as it's default make
program).

Hi, David.

What version of EPICS base are you using?

Are you using the new "Extensions Top" config files from

  http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/extensions/configure/index.php

What version of MEDM are you trying to compile?

Could you send the commands you're using to compile MEDM and their
output?

Thanks,

Lewis
