The aim is to set up the software as a daemon on the beamline server

For the alarm handler server side, does anyone have any solution that we
can look at?
You can run alarm handlers from just about anywhere.
I currently run ours from an ssh session from my desktop
as our last dedicated machine (older notebook) failed to
pick up alarms and/or send email. The processes are running
on our main acquisition machine with the icons on my desktop
- so I can't log out of my desktop, but, so what. -
It's easier to kill and restart alarm handlers if you have
the X interface locally anyway.
