The genSub doc is not really clear on that matter.

This aspect of the genSub functionality is identical to that of the subroutine record type, an example of which is found in the standard makeBaseApp.pl example template â look at the dbSubExample.c and dbSubExample.dbd files and their related entries in the Makefile.
