Hi Andrew,

I was not actually experiencing problems with CA, but the problem in general
is how to synchronize data from CA and other sources, where there is a
significant push to see if something other than "time of day" could be used as
the basis for synchronization. I wanted to have an assurance that I knew what
information the channel archiver was collecting (or could possible be
collecting) by looking at the information it was collecting over the network.
So, I fired up my version of ethereal with the dissector I did long ago.
I was quickly able to see (confirm) that the DBR_TIME_DOUBLE information
was being sent.

With my background, with the way I think, and with my general level of
non-experience with CA, this was the most direct way for me to know for sure
what info the archiver was collecting -- and ethereal really can organize the
information clearly.

Then I thought I should finally search tech-talk for "protocol dissector"
because I, by this time, had gained familiarity with tech-talk.
