For those who read my messages about having trouble making linux-gpib:
I now have successfully built and configured linux-gpib after upgrading my linux box to RHEL4/2.6.9-55.0.2.EL. Many thanks for all the help.

Now, I am stuck making asyn with LINUX_GPIB=YES in RELEASE config file. I get this error:

...
gmake -C asyn install
gmake[1]: Entering directory `/afs/slac.stanford.edu/g/esa/esalib/app/epics/support/asyn/4-3/asyn'
gmake -C O.linux-x86 -f ../Makefile TOP=../.. T_A=linux-x86 install

.a', needed by `libasyn.a'. Stop.

Linux-gpib created libgpib.so which is in /usr/local/lib, but I don't see libgpib.a. There is libgpib.la which I assume is not the same as libgpib.a.

Can asyn use libgpib.so? If so, what needs to be done to let it know where it exists? On the other hand, if asyn stubbornly insists on libgpib.a, how can I coax linux-gpib to produce one? Thanks in advance,

Zen
