At SSRL we are beginning to support SSI-only encoders for new insertion devices.  The SLS has developed support <http://www.sls.psi.ch/controls/help/howto/encoders.html#hardware> for a VME SSI readout module built by Kramert GmbH <http://kramert.ch/PDF-Dateien/SSI552%20Mai%202003.pdf>.  Stephanie Allison is porting their driver to RTEMS.
