Hello all,
I'm working on the design of a small EPICS 3.14 system running on a Linux PC.
Data comes from a legacy system via a custom-designed USB interface (being done in-house)
One key requirement is to have 8 control knobs.
Our current preferred idea is to provide a USB solution using this product:
http://www.phidgets.com/index.php?module=pncommerce&func=itemview&KID=1181719107148.79.162.144&IID=119
A well-documented Linux API is included with the product.
We are planning to write a standalone application using this API and the EPICS Channel Access API to meet our requirement.
I've searched around for what's already been done in this area.
There's a Tech-Talk message back in Sept 06 about the knob control solution at APS - that involves a VME-based solution and making the EPICS database 'knob-aware.'
Other than that, and the original SunDials/KnobManager solution, I've not been able to find anything.
If anyone has done something similar already, I'd welcome any advice.
Regards,
