Hi,
There are two relevant documents that I am aware of:
http://www.cosylab.com/visualdct/builds/VisualDCT/2.5.1271/doc/DES-VisualDCT_EPICS_Databases_Hierarchy_Support.html
http://www.cosylab.com/visualdct/builds/VisualDCT/2.5.1271/doc/SPE-VisualDCT_Hierarchy_Additions.html
They are not exactly user manuals, but give you an idea of how hierarchies are intended to work. I think there has been some discussion about removing the concept of 'groups', as they have really been superseded by hierarchies and it is a little confusing to have both. There might also be some work for future releases on making the hierarchies more intuitive and easy to use, so we would be glad to have any feedback. I'm currently the EPICS community contact for VDCT, so you can direct any questions or suggestions on this topic through me.
I hope that helps,
Emma

Subject: Using Groups and hierarchal design in VDCT
Is there a user-manual/FAQ/documentation about using the
grouping/ports/hierarchal utilities in VisualDCT?
Thanks...
