OK.

The good news is that you're about as far down with compiling as
you'll get.

Following the admittedly lengthy stuff in the manual's Setup/
Installation section,
I end up with /usr/local/include/xmlrpc_abyss.h.
Do you have that?
In addition, the program "xmlrpc-c-config" should be on the PATH.
Is it?
With that,
ChannelArchiver/XMLRPCServer/xmlrpc-config-wrapper server-flags
should produce something like "-I/usr/local/include".
Does it?
Or does that result in the "-I${prefix}/include" which probably
won't work?

OK, missed something in the manual, I guess. Under Gentoo, I have
installed:
dev-java/xmlrpc = version 1.2_beta-r1
dev-libs/xmlrpc-c = version 1.06.03
In /usr/include, I have:
find . -name 'xmlrpc*'
./xmlrpc_server.h
./xmlrpc_server_abyss.h
./xmlrpc_cgi.h
./xmlrpc_client.h
./xmlrpc_server_w32httpsys.h
./xmlrpc-c
./xmlrpc.h
I have xmlrpc_server_abyss.h, but not a xmlrpc_abyss.h.
I do have xmlrpc-c-config in my path, but when I do the
'XMLRPCServer/xmlrpc-config-wrapper server-flags' command, I get
'-I$(prefix)/include' as a result.
Did I miss installing something?
