I have started to set up a small collection of EPICS Debian packages in August
2006 in order to ease the maintenance of my SoftIOCs. The base version I
started out with at the time was 3.14.8.2. For some of the packages I needed,
it has been quite some hassle to make the Debian build system get along well
together with them, e.g., some EPICS extensions happily assume they are going
to be installed in the same place they are built in, ... [long list of
packaging issues available on request ;-)]. In addition, EPICS base 3.14.8.2
insisted on linking its exectuables by supplying some
-Wl,rpath,/path/to/buildplace/of/lib option to the linker; I gratefully
acknowledge this has been changed with 3.14.9.

After the release of 3.14.9 I updated the base package and went through all
the other packages and updated them to their respective current upstream
releases as well.

Today I have these packages:

epics-base
epics-extensions-config
epics-extensions-configure
epics-extensions-ezca
epics-extensions-msi
epics-extensions-medm
epics-extensions-sdds
epics-extensions-striptool
epics-extensions-gateway
epics-extensions-caoctave
epics-extensions-dm2k
epics-extensions-alh
epics-support-sequencer
epics-support-sscan
epics-support-gensub
epics-support-calc
epics-support-asyn
epics-support-motor
epics-support-streamdevice

On my TODO list I also have

epics-extensions-edm
epics-extensions-channel-archiver

Up to now I've been using these packages solely for my own purposes. With all
the work it has been to set them up, I thought I would maybe make them
publicly available one day and had already started to figure out ways to do
so here at BESSY. Since I'm currently on vacation until March 28th and will
probably be somewhat busy afterwards, this might still not happen this month.

> Also, interesting our EPICS LiveCDs which we have done here for Umbuntu.

I still have to take a look at these.
