Hi Kevin,
I have been working on this with the guys from ThorLabs, to get it working under Linux. The EPICS interface I tried to build under asyn failed because of the APT's propensity to spit out information without being asked, i.e. unsolicited responses. I did get as far as having the Thorlabs info put into the Linux kernel USB driver table, so recent kernels should support it directly. The THorlabs people also talked about implementing a switch to turn off the unsolicited responses, but I haven't heard from them recently (nor have I asked them). It is basically an RS232-type interface behind a USB-RS232 converter. I'm sure someone with more time than me could figure out a good way to deal with this, in fact several people suggested that I implement an independent thread to handle all responses and figure out which were useful. I never had time to do it. I have some code; you're welcome to what I have.
Pete.

Is anyone using the USB interface with EPICS? Of particular interest is the ThorLabs APT series.
