It's Friday, so I can't help but add a few more comments. When you compare the link that Dave sent, https://ics-web1.sns.ornl.gov/STANDARDS/Naming%20Conventions% 20Instructional%20Document.pdfto the BESSY docs, you'll see things like underscores that are allowed, but not required in some places. Earlier SNS naming documents contained phrases like "use upper/lower case and underscores however you like to improve readability". Good examples for a non-standard, resulting in long names, maybe readable, but definitely hard to parse. Worst are probably our instance numbers: "105" = 105th instance, or 5th instance on 1st system "05b" = 2nd instance on 5th system "_65kV" = the system that handles 65*10^3 Volts - I think, because 65kV suggests a voltage. For a name parser, it could also be the 65th instance on the 'kV' system. "_FE65kV" = the system that handles 65*10^3 Volts on the front-end? "208t303" = no idea
