Actually, starting to have great fun.  It's getting interesting connecting to all the main breakers in our Alternate Power generator building and standing over here (about a 1/4 mile away) and exercising the system from here (with the exception of the time I shut down all power to the plant - OOPS).

Just working on getting EPICS to start doing GOOD things, and showing up the other software we're using around here!

I'll try the 'stringin' record this week.

If 40 characters is enough, use a stringin record (the device support 
could fetch the latest message). If you need more than 40 characters, 
use a waveform record with type = char.
