Hi,
You should be able to do this using an "interpose interface" in asyn. The interpose interface would take the "addr" field of the multidrop device, and call the underlying port driver to send the "ADR xxx" command. It would then call the port driver to send the rest of the command/response.
I believe this is how David Kline implemented asyn support for the Love controllers.

i want to communicate with devices connected in RS485 multidrop and supports standard command/response protocol.to select a device first i have to send ADR xxx command. i have written a driver using asyn,but it can talk with only one device at a time.is there any other driver to support multidrop device with command/response protocol.IPAC is there but it is for canbus or profibus.
