The NIST Center for Neutron Research in Gaithersburg, Maryland
is in the process of ramping up for expansion. The NCNR is a national
user facility for materials research with nearly 1,200 visiting researchers
per year. A new guide hall is to be built housing 4 - 6 new instruments,
increasing the complement from the current 23 to nearly 30.
In order to deal with the demands of new instrument development as well
as maintenance of and upgrades to the existing suite, the data
acquisition and
electronics group seeks an electronics/control engineer to augment the
current staff. This individual would have a hand in designing, integrating,
and maintaining electronics and applications software in support of
neutron scattering experiments. We have such needs in motion control,
neutron event detection, counting, and histogramming, and process
control (temperature, magnetic field, etc). The best qualified individual
would have skills in digital and analog electronics design and integration,
as well as skills in computer systems programming and application design
and implementation in C/C++, TCL, Python, and Labview on the Linux and
Windows platforms. Depending on experience, the position would command
an annual salary of $45,000 - $90,000.
If you are aware of any individuals who may be interested in such a
position,
please have them send a resume and contact information by post or e-mail
