Hello All,
Diamond Synchrotron Light Source, http://www.diamond.ac.uk/
, the largest scientific facility
to be built in the
These roles will be based in the Control Systems Group which has responsibilities for accelerator and beamline control systems on the Diamond facility. Control systems are realised using EPICS, with VME and VxWorks together with embedded Linux systems for the hardware interface layer and Linux workstations for all development and operational systems.
The following positions are available:
SOFTWARE SYSTEMS ENGINEER :
PHOTON BEAMLINES (X2) Ref. DIA0221
These positions will work closely with a team of scientists and engineers to specify and develop software to deliver ultra stable x-ray beams from the Diamond Storage Ring to the experimental samples. These roles will work in a distributed, heterogeneous computing environment, using embedded systems for direct control of the hardware and Linux workstations for the operator interfaces. Embedded applications are coded in C or built using the EPICS control system toolkit, and the Linux applications use a combination of C, Java and scripting languages.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER: EPICS Toolkit Core Development Ref.
DIA0220
This position will involve working with scientists and engineers on the overall design and specification for future versions of the EPICS toolkit to support the general needs of the EPICS collaboration and the specific requirements of Diamond.

Network Administrator Ref. DIA0219
This position will manage and develop the network
installation to support the development and operation of the accelerators and
experimental stations . The successful candidate will be expected to have
responsibility for technical input to network design, implementation and
operational support, together with an appreciation of the operation requirements
for a large Linux based distributed computing environment. This position is available at
Administrator Level or Senior Administrator Level. At senior level it will also
include management and planning for network administration together with the
management and planning of a team
of Linux System administrators.
