Harley,

If the DISA field gets set such that it equals the DISV field, the AI record will become "disabled" anytime (which means that the record processing routine will not execute).

Some options:
- If you set DISA to 2 and 3 for "yes" and "no", then it will never equal the default value of DISV (which is 1) and you won't interfere with anything.

- If the AI record is not scanned via EVENT, the EVNT field is not used.

- Unused LOW, LOLO, HIGH, HIHI fields could be used

- The SIOL field is also available if you don't use simulation mode.

Hope this helps -

This should be a quick and simple question. I am using AI records to
store data that goes from equipment to a Java GUI. I need to add a
boolean "disable" field to hide things on the GUI, but still have
them get put into Epics. Does the "DISA" field have any special
meaning that will affect the CA server, or can I use it for my own
purposes?

Thanks,

Harley
