At a ridiculous hour (3:15 a.m.) on Friday 14th July 2006, first light was observed from a 3 GeV 1mA stored beam in the Australian Synchrotron Storage Ring.
As mentioned when first turn was achieved, the control system for the synchrotron is almost completely based on EPICS. The Controls team would like to thank all those in the EPICS community who have given their time, advice and code in contributing to this success. Thank you to all of those facilities that have welcomed us into the community by showing us around their installations and freely given time and advice.
For pictures, check out our official web site. In the next few days we will publish a movie of the actual moment.
