At the CLS for our most recent building expansions we have used Delta
Controls (Based on BACNET) for the VAV boxes and room controllers. We
have been looking at using Rod's BACNET driver.

For the central plant (steam converters, air handling units, cooling
towers, chillers etc.) we have used MODICON Momentum PLCs with TCP/IP
over Ethernet. There are three or four EPICS MODBUS drivers from
various sources including CLS, TRIUMF and SNS available.

We also have an older Invensys DMS system with a Wonderware based OPI
that we run for parts of our older building. Over time we would phase
this out.

Hello Ernest,

we interfaced EPICS to our ISAC building control system (BACNET
installation provided by Delta Controls).
Currently the interface is read-only.
This was done by Rod Nussbaumer ([email protected]) and reported at
ICALEPCS.
A copy of the ICALEPCS paper can be found here:

Hi Ned,

How is it going?

How have some interfaced their accelerator conventional facilities to
EPICS? In particular HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)
systems.

There are industry standards for Building Automation Systems such as,
BACnet.

Did someone interface to something like "BACnet" or "LON Works" (i.e.
an industry standard for "building automation and controls network")?

Our HVAC system is supplied by TRANE (http://www.trane.com/
Does anyone else use TRANE?

Thanks,
