When I looked into the same issue with the DL405 with an H4-ECOM module, readout via ethernet, I discovered that you have your choice of protocols with which to communicate. Originally I wanted to use the directNetAsyn support from Andrew Johnson but discovered that this serial protocol does not match the DirectNet ethernet protocol. It is possible to used an ethernet to serial translator and use directNetAsyn. The H4-ECOM does not support the Modbus protocol for which there are EPICS drivers. So I elected to use the DirectNet HEI driver developed for Linux (from Host Engineering, hosteng.com) and create an ASYN driver that calls the HEI driver. Unfortunately this is not my highest priority project and I have just started reading back values.
