Once upon a time, I developed an ActiveX based interface to the
Channel Access Server for the LEDA experiment at LANL.
It also included the beginnings of an AX-based CA client.
It was primarily used with LabVIEW.
The remains of it can now be found on
http://ics-web1.sns.ornl.gov/~kasemir/axca/index.html
but it is no longer maintained.
Is anybody out there who has developed another approach for
interfacing LabVIEW to ChannelAccess? One that is still
maintained and might help Jürgen Lauer with his plan
to update to LabView8?
One thing to keep in mind is the approach of the SNS
diagnostics group, where as far as I can tell,
LV uses shared memory to communicate with an EPICS soft IOC
running on the same host (Windows and/or Linux?),
so one has what looks like a 'real' IOC with data coming
from LabVIEW. I think there are previous tech-talk enties
with more detailed links. The last I found was from
20 Oct 2005 about using LV 7.x and intending to update to LV8.

Guten Tag Herr Kasemir,
ich habe Sie vor einigen Jahren anlässlich einer Tagung bei Bessy
kennen gelernt. Schon vorher verwendete ich das von Ihnen
geschriebene EPICS-Interface für LabView 6.x. Meine
Beamlinesoftware für das Jül-Strahlrohr bei Bessy ist komplett in
LabView geschrieben und nutzt diesen Treiber zu meiner vollsten
Zufriedenheit. Auf diesem Wege deshalb nochmals meinen Dank.
Aber die Zeit, und auch die Entwicklung der Software geht weiter,
und so möchte ich im Verlauf der nächsten Monate meine komplette
Software auf ein aktuelles LabView8 umstellen. Leider ist die von
ihnen erstellte Bibliothek nicht mehr kompatibel. Meine direkte
Frage, gibt es etwas Neueres, wie auch immer?
Uebrigens, es war gar nicht so leicht Sie auf ihrem neuen Job zu
finden, aber das Internet ist wirklich manchmal unersetzlich.
