I just tried your suggestion and that works much better.
I did not test all configurations, but my code is now stable.

I would rather use the CA client library calls directly (you need only 
ca.dll and com.dll). See the epics example application for a CA client 
'hello world (use 'makeBaseApp.pl -t caClient caex' and then look at 
caexApp/caExample.c).
