crate

Dear Darrell,
Please send this reply back to TechTalk:

I believe there is a standard setting in the 2992 code where you select
one of two or more 2992 cards in a crate, for example:

int extsw; /* Camac Address of Switch Card */
int extled; /* Camac Address of LED Card */
    int f0=0; /* Camac Code for Read*/
int f16=16; /* Camac Code for Write */
    int q; /* Camac Q Response Storage */
    int data,data2; /* Camac Data Storage */
float MsgCount; /* Message Count */
float ErrorCount; /* Error Count */
    int branch=0; /* Which Camac Branch */
    int crate=1; /* Which Camac Crate */
int swslot=15; /* Switch Station / Card Crate Slot */
int ledslot=4; /* LED Station / Card Crate Slot */
    int subadd=0; /* Camac Sub-Address */
    int k;

I am sure there are others in TechTalk who can tell you how to set it
up, but the base address setting of the 2992 is related to the 'branch'
shown above. Basically, the 'branch' tells the software what base
address to use when addressing the CAMAC. I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Subject: Two Hytec VSD 2992 CAMAC serial highway driver in one VME crate

We split our EPICS/CAMAC system into two loops.

Does anybody have experience with two Hytec VSD 2992 CAMAC serial
highway drivers in one VME crate working with two MV162 in two different

address spaces? Any problems? Can we save money by not buying second VME

crate?

Evgeniy,
TRIUMF
