you have asked for an automated way to make entries from an IOC to your elog. I'd like to know whether you are really interested to make entries in your electronic logbook and/or your alarm-files or your system-logs. For all of these there are several paths to follow. The easiest way was probably already mentioned by Matt. The alarm-handler is a nice tool to attach scripts which can be used to create any kind of entries in all kind of logs. In our case we send a mail from the alarm handler to a mail-server (in this case: James) which will translate the mail into an elog entry. James is a nice tool to perform filtering on mail and to cut a mail into it's basic bits and pieces. Since our elogbook is based on Oracle it's easy to forward the contents to the Oracle server. -Matthias It's now 21:45 in Beijing - this is cross continent techTalk at it's best ;-) -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Matthias Clausen Cryogenic Controls Group(MKS-2) phone: +49-40-8998-3256 Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron fax: +49-40-8994-3256 Notkestr. 85 e-mail: [email protected] 22607 Hamburg WWW-MKS2.desy.de Germany ------------------------------------------------------------------------
