This is just to let the community know that we at Diamond are going to
have another synApps workshop as a follow-up to the one we held on 5-8th
December. This one will be held from 20-23 February and will be lead by
Mark Rivers from University of Chicago/APS and will focus more on
experimental issues such as detector support, scripting support and the
asynDriver device interface.

As with the last workshop, the whole thing is intended to be fairly
informal, but I was again wondering whether some of the European EPICS
sites might be interested in sending a few people to Diamond to talk
about beamline issues and learn about synApps. If you are, send me a
note, plus what sort of topic you are most interested in.

The agenda has not yet been fully fleshed out, but it will cover:

  - EPICS Detector and Feedback Software
  - Using IDL and Python with EPICS
  - EPICS IOCs on Windows
  - The EPICS asyn module.

We are also going to try and have some practical sessions with real
detectors and hardware. The group workshop will actually finish on the
Wednesday - We are reserving Thursday for one-on-one developments we are
doing with Mark. On the other hand, if there were topic of mutual
interest that others wish to pursue on Thursday, this time is available.
