I'm thinking of using NI-1014 GPIB controller with an Intel-based VMIVME-series CPU running EPICS 3.14.7 on Linux. included in asynDriver on a CPU running Linux?
I expect that this will be quite a bit of work. The EPICS Linux support runs only in user mode but the NI1014 driver would have to run in the kernel.
The ASYN VXI11 driver does run on Linux. Any controller which supported by the 'Linux GPIB Library' ( http://linux-gpib.sourceforge.net/) will also work with ASYN. I don't see any VME cards in the support-device list, though. In particular, the NI1014 is not supported.
I'll appreciate any kind of information, comments, or advice on this issue.
The NI1014 is an very old device.
