Thank you for the thought.  I'll see if I can make things work with subArray first.  If I have problems I'll be in touch!

I'd prefer to use the standard record type (even if I am milding abusing it) if I can.  You say also that your Compact Subarray "copies amount it needs from a source record" -- do you mean that the source has to be another Epics record, or can it be purely device data?
