I was having a similar problem with RHEL4 a couple of months ago. It
seems that MEDM needs to have the following in the X font server path
for RHEL4 /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi.

If you run the command /usr/sbin/chkfontpath you will see a listing of
directories in the font path. By default RHEL4 includes
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled which will prevent you from
adding the other font directory to the path. The only way I found around
this was to remove the 75dpi font directories from the path and then add
it back:
	chkfontpath -r /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi
	chkfontpath -a /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi

This will add both /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi and
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled to you font path.

Hi Folks:

Has anyone had problems with medm scalable fonts with White Box 
Enerprise Linux 4 (WBEL4).  We just installed this on our machines and 
cannot get the medm scalable fonts to work.  They did work with WBEL3.
