Here at Fermilab we are scheduled for a shutdown starting October 31 and lasting for 14 weeks. The new director will confirm the shutdown early in September. During our shutdown I would like to go the latest stable epics version available. Currently we are running 3.14.6. From the tech-talk messages and the mantis bug reports it seems that there are enough changes to warrant a new release. Is a new 3.14 release possible within a few months so that we can upgrade over our shutdown? We discussed this over on the core-talk list, and given the extra work the developers have to do coming up to the EPICS Collaboration and ICALEPCS meetings we're not planning a release before then. I'm currently hoping we'll be able to release version 3.14.8 in mid to late October, once everyone is back from Geneva. We can never be completely sure how long it will take once we get started because the developers don't all work on the same architectures, and getting things working on HPUX is generally the most tricky. Would all sites out there running or planning to run R3.14.x on HPUX please make sure that Ralph Lange knows that you're still relying on his porting work. You should be aware that we'll definitely be dropping HPUX support completely for the R4.x series, and if *nobody* reponds to this request we might even drop it sooner. - Andrew -- English probably arose from Normans trying to pick up Saxon girls.
