Hi Andrew- Ernest helped me figure out that it was a mismatch between the SNCSEQ def in 
configure/RELEASES in the app & local seq trees.  The "<SLACstuff>" & xyz/ are just so I 
wouldn't bore you with our local /afs paths; sorry about the confusion!

And there really is a gap in the "but SNCSEQ at  has", but as that msg goes away when 
I fix the RELEASEs, I don't know why that happened...

Is the text above *exactly* as reported by the tool, or did you edit the 
two "<SLACstuff>" parts?  I note that the second line above has 
<SLACstuff> in the path to the convertRelease.pl script, and that looks 
to be part of the problem.  Check whether SNCSEQ (or SLACstuff even) is 
found anywhere in your <base>/configure directory.  Do you use an 
automounter that uses soft links and gives different paths to mounted 
file systems?

There should be a path printed in between the words "but SNCSEQ at" and 
"has"; if that path really is empty it could be reading a file from the 
root path /configure/RELEASE so have a look there too.  Finally, I'm not 
sure what will happen if the SNCSEQ installation itself has a definition 
for SNCSEQ in its own configure/RELEASE file, so make sure there isn't 
one set there.
