Peter,

I suppose you asked about server (IOC) side.

Dave Thompson created Epics special records and API (library) that connect to the records. There are couple files that explain that (look on SM directory).

Wim Blokland created LabView’s wrapper for that library. Also he created some support VIs. One of them does DB for the special records.

About your second question.

At first, Windows is not Real-Time OS. So you couldn’t do normal Real-Time control system. But you could do pseudo Real-Time system. For example, I did tests with LabView program. Program lost events (ADC measuring ) on 85 Hz. On 60 Hz program lost some events (less than 10) during 24 hours. CPU loading was 70~80 %. If you will write more information maybe someone can help you more.

Good luck, Andrei.

Subject: LabVIEW RT interface with EPICS

Hi,

I just tried to post to the tech-talk group with my other e-mail address but it doesn't seem to have got through, so apologies if this comes up twice.

I'm doing a project where I need to connect to LabVIEW with EPICS. I know this has been done before in some capacity but I have a couple of extra problems. First of all I can't create a sample EPICS database for me to communicate to for testing during the development stage. I also will be connecting to the EPICS database through a Fieldpoint controller running Real Time, which - as far as I know - has not been done before.

If I can get a sample EPICS database to work with then I'll be on my way. I've tried some VI's that I downloaded to create one but couldn't get them to work. If anyone could help me out with creating one of these it would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Peter Horn.
