These fields are filled in by the sscan record when it connects to a
positioner PV. The sscan record reads

the PV's engineering units, display precision, and limits from the
record that contains the PV, and it writes

them its P1EU, P1PR, P1HR, P1LR fields so that a data acquisition
client can later put them into the data file.

If the information you're seeing is different from what the record has,
then yes, you're probably seeing a

symptom of some problem. But if you've written to those fields
yourself, and the sscan record is overwriting

with zeroes from the record, then the software is doing what it was
intended to do. If this isn't the right thing

for your application, let's talk.
The information is only read at PV-connect time. This occurs whenever
the PV name is changed, and

at the beginning of every scan. (The sscan record breaks and remakes
positioner-PV connections at the

beginning of every scan.)
