Hello Kate
At DLS we build and run EDM on Red Hat
9.0. We are currently using EDM version 1.10.1w, built against EPICS
R3.14.6; (I usually upgrade our EDM version every six months or thereabouts, so
it’s getting time for an upgrade.)
Regards
Steve

Subject: Which platform for edm ?
(Re: edm on RedHat7.2)
What platform and what version of edm was tested
sucessfully ? What platform and version is used in DLS of UK ?

In Redhat 7.2 libXm.so.2
is provided by the lesstif-0.92.32-6.i386.rpm
package and no libXm.so.3 library
file is provided by default. However I
have found this version of lesstif
to be flakey
Me, too.
I found so a while ago running medm.
That was why I removed it and installed openmotif-devel-2.2.2-5,
and openmotif-2.2.2-5 on my laptop (actually RedHat7.3).
Do you use 'edm' on RedHat7.2 ? One thing I have to modify is
to add
USR_INCLUDES += -I$(MOTIF_INC)
in edm/pvFactory/Makefile.Host.
However, I tried another PC (RedHat7.2,
openmotif-2.1.30-8)
which supplied libXm.so.2. I go error message:
/ade/epics/supTop/extensions/R3.14.0beta1/lib/linux-x86/lib605432d2-f29d-11d2-973b-00104b8742df.so:
undefined symbol: createWidgets__18activeGraphicClass
However, it seems all the listed dependencies are installed
by verifying : ldd lib605432d2-f29d-11d2-973b-00104b8742df.so
We have been running medm on both PCs happily for
years. It
is nice that edm provides extra capabilities. If I know what
platform edm was tested, it will help me to identify
what steps I missed.
Thanks,
Kate
and would recommend to
remove it and replace it with the
Redhat 7.3 openmotif-2.2.2-5.i386.rpm,
openmotif-devel-2.2.2-5.i386.rpm
and openmotif21-2.1.30-1.i386.rpm
packages. The openmotif package
provides the libXm.so.3 library while
the openmotif21 package provides
the libXm.so.2 library.
