Folks,
I think there are problems in the host name for PVs reported by channel
access in 3.14.7.
If I use the cainfo utility in 3.14.6 it correctly reports the IP name
of the IOC that is hosting a PV.
corvette> /usr/local/epics/base-3.14.6/bin/linux-x86/cainfo 13LAB:m1.VAL
13LAB:m1.VAL
State: connected
Host: ioc13lab.cars.aps.anl.gov:5064
Access: read, write
Data type: DBR_DOUBLE (native: DBF_DOUBLE)
Element count: 1
However, in 3.14.7, it reports the name of the host on which the cainfo
program is running, not the name of the machine that is hosting the PV.
corvette> /usr/local/epics/base-3.14.7/bin/linux-x86/cainfo 13LAB:m1.VAL
13LAB:m1.VAL
State: connected
Host: corvette.cars.aps.anl.gov
Access: read, write
Data type: DBR_DOUBLE (native: DBF_DOUBLE)
Element count: 1
I have seen the same behavior for other CA clients, i.e. medm. Versions
of medm built against older version of base work correctly when the
right mouse button is clicked and PVinfo is selected. Versions built
against 3.14.7 report the local host.
This is all on Linux.
