Hello,

SNS (Spallation Neutron Source) has a Java application framework called
XAL. They have a "channel" abstraction in the code that allows using
EPICS channel access, as well as other underlying data sources. They
also have a "scope" application for displaying waveforms from such
"channels". Given it's Java, the scope will run on Solaris or Linux.
From what I saw of the demo, it performs quite well. There is lots of
stuff in XAL beyond this, but it's easy to find and extract what is desired.

I'm using a subset of XAL (dubbed CFW) just as a general Java
applications framework at APS.
