And then there is Mantis #176 for which the solution is known (and easy) and
Mantis #181, which should be easy. To say nothing of my favorite, #111,
which can't be that hard and which has a very substantial impact. All of
these should be included in a 3.14.7 patch.

It is difficult for me to patch base and test because I need to make both
Release and Debug builds on four platforms, then manage these builds and the
many extensions for which I am responsible. I prefer to rebuild my base as
seldom as possible, since it is so time consuming. I would expect others do
not want to have to keep installing patches, either.

I believe Jeff means #187 instead of #113 for Rolf's bug. I have tested
Jeff's changes for this bug, and they appear to work. I have not, of
course, tested them as included in a patch.

I am intending to try to find ways to fix #113 in the Gateway (or else
demonstrate that it cannot be fixed in the Gateway, whichever happens). I
just need to find time.

For those that can't remember what the numbers mean:

#176 'bad resource id' message in GW log file (owing to blocking socket)

#181 ca_host_name() now returns the host name of the client, not the
host:port of the server

#111 non-preemptive clients disconnect if ca_poll() isnt called regularly
(even though the server and network connection is ok))

#187 spurious corrupted value when writing through the gateway

#113 FATAL: exception not rethrown message when gateway killed with SIGTERM
on Solaris (and related problems on Linux)
