Any of you have been waiting patiently for the new release of drvAscii
that fixes the 'loss of synchronization' problem (depicted by flurries
of semTake failure messages), release 2.3 is now available on the
KECK observatory ftp site.

ftp://ftp.keck.hawaii.edu/outgoing/epics/drivers/drvAscii/v2.3/

modification log:
----------------------------------------------
date: 2004/08/30 20:54:40;  author: ahoney;
Mods to alleviate a synchronization bug. Perviously, link private buffers
were used and hence they could be overwritten by records in different
EPICS scan tasks. The buffers are now allocated off the stack and are
private to each record (A Honey)
----------------------------------------------

I apologize for the long delay (modifications were made last august)
but we wanted to thoroughly shake it down by interfacing to a new
Vxworks driver for a DSP board (avalanche photo diode device) that
generates 3 different interrupts. Note that the driver interface appears
as a streaming device, which allows opens, reads, and write from the
Vxworks shell (for those who do not use EPICS) and, hence, easy connection
with drvAscii.

There were a couple of other enhancements that some might find useful
(mods are mentioned in the readme file).

Hopefully, the next release of drvAscii will be a port to asyn driver.

Aloha,
	Allan
