Hi Trivan,
I recall that you were designing an RDB for the SLS. How is that coming along? Are there EPICS databases defined in there? Is it in use for the physics data?
The LCLS is looking for RDB's from which to start.

To be skeptical is fine. However, it would be desirable to have some quantitative reasons why. More specifically, given the experience in Epics, the Epics Extension and CDEV, in use at SLS Controls.

More specifically why do you believe, with respect to the above, that the ideas you have written down are conducive to the use of a Relational Database ? and, what (eventually) are your goals for using a RDBMS ?

I would certainly not like to be responsible for any 'spontaneous combustion' at the outset. However, it some seem to me subjectively to be relevant why the motivations for these questions to asked at present.
