It's true that this document isn't completely current. So much to do, so
little time...

As Andrew mentioned, there is one in R3.14 base that can be installed with
makeBaseApp.

Certainly the original server in the IOC is the more reliable of the two.
However, robustness of the portable server is improving. My understanding is
that recent versions of the CA gateway, which uses the portable server,
rarely (if ever) crashes at the APS.
