I have been working on an SNS BSP for the 5100. We have the model with
the 7410 processor and we have been able to run epics on it. You
probably can run epics on the stock kernel but I would recommend at
least increasing the network stack and enabling bus errors. Andrew
probably has some ideas and I also have some working code for that.
There are some compiler issues. The compiler they ship won't build
everything and you can't use the compiler from T2.0.2.

Subject: MVME-5100 choices
I am about to order some MVME-5100 single board computers. I notice that
there are two different processors available for this family: the
MVME5100-016x with a 450 MHz MPC750, and the MVME5110-2x6x with a 400 or
500 MHz MPC7410.
Are either of these processors acceptable (tested) with EPICS on
VxWorks?
Any strong recommendations of one over the other?
I will be using Tornado-2.2.1/VxWorks-5.5, with EPICS R.3.13.10
initially,
but perhaps a 3.14 version later.
Thank you,
