Geoff,

I had a problem with "makeMakefile.pl" not being copied to
the bin directory.

It turned out to be because I hadn't set:

COMPAT_TOOLS_313=YES
in
"base/configure/CONFIG_SITE"

This is a change introduced in the configuration files
between releases 3.14.4 and 3.14.5.

Not sure whether this will solve all of your problems
but hope it helps anyway.
