Motorola came to SNS ~ 2weeks ago and said the end of life for the 2100,
5100 and a number of 68k's will be 2005 - 2006. The replacement for a
5100 will be a 6100 which is due out in a couple of months.

Ralph,
Have you talked to WRS about their enterprise licensing model? This
allows you to use any target on any host architecture, plus there are a
number of other goodies thrown in. The catch of course is the price. The
yearly subscription is much more than the annual maintenance cost for a
current license. If you have a number of target and/or host
architectures then it might start to make sense. It might also make
sense if you want to move to VxWorks 6.0 when it comes out.
We met with WRS this week and are starting to consider these issues.
Unfortunately I can't make the collaboration meeting, but I'm sure this
would be a good subject to discuss one evening.
As for the MVME2100, IIRC according to Motorola, the 32MB version is not
going away anytime soon and the replacement on the road map I saw early
last year was also based on the PPC603 core. This was nearly a year ago,
perhaps someone has some more recent information?
John.
