My solution for vacuum readings, which I don't think is entirely
satisfactory, was to set PREC to 12 for vacuum readings which were to be
archived. This allowed the archive export tools to output useable data.
Then, for operator displays using medm, override the precision to 1 using
the medm PV Limits setting, and set format to exponential. I would have
preferred to be able to export data from the archiver with %e or %g as a
cleaner solution.
