Folks,

I'm having some problems building EPICS 3.14 stuff on solaris-sparc-gnu.  I have built base 3.14.4 with no problems.  I have also built the EPICS example application, including the snc example, and the soft IOC works OK.

The problems I'm having are:

- An error linking the mpf2-4 test programs.  A C++ routine (Tcp::connect) which should definitely exist in the libmpf.so library is not being found at link time.  

- I have built the 3.14 versions of the extensions ezca, EzcaScan and ezcaIDL with no problems.  However, when I try to use the resulting ezcaIDL.so from IDL on Solaris to do channel access it gives a bus error and crashes.

The version of g++ on my Solaris system is 2.95.3. The MPF problem does not happen on Linux (g++ 3.2.2) or Mac Darwin (g++ 3.3).  Do you think it is likely that these problems are gcc/g++ version related?  What versions of gcc/g++ have others used for building on Solaris, and has anyone built MPF 2-4 with it?
