"excas" does not compile/install if installing R3.14.2 in other than the source (default) directory. =============================================================== If, during the first compile, I change INSTALL_LOCATION in base-3.14.2/configure/RELEASE.linux-x86 from the default #INSTALL_LOCATION=<fullpathname> to INSTALL_LOCATION=/usr/local/epics-3.14.2 I get the following errors near the completion of compiling epics: gmake[3]: Entering directory `/home0/bra/EPICS/src/R3.14.2/base-3.14.2/src/excas/O.linux-x86' gmake[3]: Leaving directory `/home0/bra/EPICS/src/R3.14.2/base-3.14.2/src/excas/O.linux-x86' gmake[3]: Entering directory `/home0/bra/EPICS/src/R3.14.2/base-3.14.2/src/excas/O.linux-x86' gmake[3]: *** No rule to make target `main.o', needed by `excas'. Stop. gmake[3]: Leaving directory `/home0/bra/EPICS/src/R3.14.2/base-3.14.2/src/excas/O.linux-x86' gmake[2]: *** [install.linux-x86] Error 2 gmake[2]: Leaving directory `/home0/bra/EPICS/src/R3.14.2/base-3.14.2/src/excas' gmake[1]: *** [excas.install] Error 2 gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/home0/bra/EPICS/src/R3.14.2/base-3.14.2/src' gmake: *** [src.install] Error 2
I am using Redhat Linux 7.3 and 8.0 on an i686. Other configuration files were modified from working epics-3.14.1 files Questions: 1. Does my way of getting excas compiled and moved give the desired results? 2. What modifications would allow "excas" to compile and install correctly the first time when not installing in the default directory?
