All,

The VERY strong advantage of a pure java implementation is the ability to
deploy applications to the desktop, with automatic upgrade to new versions
using Java Web Start, with no requirements for ANY locally installed code.
(No native methods).

The way this is done today with CDEV is to make use of a gateway. That
introduces some complexity and increased latency. Not ideal, but workable.

Performance for MANY applications is not a problem for java, with such
powerful desktops today (IMHO).
