Ken,

I recently made similar changes and sent the changes to DESY and TJNAF - the keepers of the forked code of which we know. I added default .cnf and .dat, and use environment variables to point to default directories.

I hope these ideas (and very minor mods) are useful to you.

Dear Chris and Matthias,

Please find enclosed four files from the StripTool:

Strip.c - few lines to support separate DATA storage directory
StripDialog.c - few lines to use env variable for CONFIG directory
StripDefines.h - few lines to support a default DATA filename extension
Makefile.Host - Two lines to set the default CONFIG filename and DATA filename extensions.

The two new env variables are STRIPCONFIGFILES and STRIPDATAFILES. If these have values, they are the default CONFIG and DATA locations; if they have no value, the behaviour is as before (current directory for both).

I know we are forked, most probably from both of you. This is my poor man's solution to unforking.

/Ron Chestnut
