This is an ao record using SoftChannel device support
out-linked to a constant.

The problem appears to be that

    dbPutLink( &pao->out, DBR_DOUBLE, &pao->oval, 1 );

in the soft device support code returns an error for a constant
link.

How do I say

  if ( "link type is a constant" ) {

using the proper CA macros/structures?
